Bike Race and Rodeo
This year’s Riverfest will feature the Tour de Lafayette Alley Cat Bike Race as a memorial to bike activist Manny Cervantes. The race will familiarize riders with the Greater Lafayette community and covers around 20 miles. Register for the Alley Cat bike race before July 11, 2014. Voluntary donations to the #LiveLikeManny Memorial Fund appreciated.
A bike rodeo sponsored by Bicycle Lafayette will feature urban cycling lessons and an obstacle course at the Tapawingo Ice Skating Rink. Don’t worry, there won’t be any ice, but there WILL be bikes and helmets provided.
Wabash River Conservation
Riverfest is a celebration of this mighty river and the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation invites the community to celebrate and learn more about it. A key component of the festival are the many conservation exhibits that aim to educate the community about the Wabash. Check out the booths featuring river activist groups such as NICHES Land Trust, Hoosier Environmental Council, Illinois Indiana Sea Grant, Purdue American Fisheries Society, Future Scholars Academy, and more.
